- Installed, supported, and upgraded VMWare ESX 3.0.2 and 3.5 servers for development, test, and production environments to consolidate systems onto less physical hardware while increasing the number of virtual systems. Used VCB snapshots for backups to maintain VM system uptime. Managed using VirtualCenter 2.0 and 2.5.
- EMC Clariion CX4-30 and Centera support on SAN to provide redundant and reliable storage services
- Supported a number of IBM Bladecenter chassis with LS20, LS21, and LS41 blades to provide further hardware consolidation. Boot from 4Gb Brocade SAN for VM farm and providing storage to production systems. Monitored blades and chassis through IBM Director to provide preemptive support managed via remote console for remote system installs, upgrades, and maintenance.
- Supported HP systems for various generations of DL145, DL360, DL380, DL385, DL580, DL585, ML570 with both direct attached and MSA1500 SAN enabled MSA30 arrays, monitored through HP Insight Manager. Used ILO remote consoles for remote system installs, upgrades, and maintenance.
- NetBackup 6.0MP4 and 6.5 for backups and restores on SL5000, MSL6060, MSL4048, and L8 LTO-2 and LTO-3 libraries to provide a platform for data recovery and bare metal restore capability. Daily review of overnight backups, weekly tape management, and scheduled offsite tape shipments.
- Disaster Recover implementation and testing of physical production systems in BMR-restored VMs synced across a WAN using DoubleTake for Windows and Linux through Riverbed 5520 appliances to provide a hot backup site for business continuity.
- Support for Red Hat Enterprise Linux 3 and 4 RHN Proxy for use with Oracle 9i and 10g. Managed OS patches and patch auditing using RHN Proxy.
- Support of Sun E220R, E280R, v120, v240, v440, v480 systems running Solaris 8, 9, 10 for SAS users working with clinical data and EDA engineers.
- Worked with Veritas Storage Foundation Basic on Solaris and Linux.
- HP LoadRunner script generation for application load testing from geographically dispersed areas. Load tested services through Citrix and HTTP interfaces for performance testing. Attended training June 2008.

- Sarbanes-Oxley process compliance, documentation, and remediation with auditors to help meet regulatory requirements.
- Manage and mentor junior admins and interns to help grow our team and maintain support processes.
- Supported VMWare ESX on VMWare Infrastructure 3.0 on Dell platforms connected to iSCSI on NetApp filers to provide system consolidation and a testing platform. Promoted VMWare Workstation, Server, and Player for internal use by individuals needing alternate platforms for sales demonstrations and test platforms.
- Network and system monitoring with Cricket SNMP, MRTG, and Spong, to provide proactive support for our infrastructure.
- IT hardware and software quarterly budgeting locally and some input into overall corporate budget. Helped define cost-cutting measures and argue for critical needs.
- Remote access services through clustered Juniper Netscreen SA-2000 SSL VPN authenticating through Safeword PremierAccess RADIUS for Safeword Silver 2000 keychain tokens, making use of Active Directory groups and corporate desktop identification. Limited remote access to those using personal equipment to eliminated time-consuming support of personal PC systems. IMAP and SMTP SSL proxy for secure access from various email clients including Palm Treo phones.
- Netscreen firewalls monitored with Netscreen Security Manager to maintain configuration consistency and auditability.
- Unix and PC platforms - Solaris 5 through 10, RedHat Enterprise Linux 3 and 4, CentOS 3 through 5, Network Appliance Filers using NFS, CIFS and iSCSI, as well as Win 2003/XP Active Directory.
- Wireless network planning and implementation to provide our laptop users with maximum mobility and flexibility when traveling between sites, yet compatible with our existing VPN software.
- Fileserver backup management on Quantum M1500 LTO-3 libraries with Syncsort Backup Express, offsite storage rotation and tape retention for backups. Gigabit Ethernet backbone for iSCSI, faster backups, easy storage management, high availability, and high performance access between filers and EDA compute server farm. Linux-based tertiary archive after projects closed for continuing data access.
- Automated Linux compute server install and localization using Kickstart and PXE boot for fast deployment. Red Hat Network used for patch management.
- Load balanced Red Hat Linux and Sun Solaris compute server environment. Wrote wrappers to allow EDA batch software to operate in this environment, coordinated with licensing by Macrovision Flexlm daemons.
- Microsoft WSUS to deploy MS Windows patches, Numara Deploy for automated software package installation, Executive Software Diskeeper Admin/Pro/Server for improving system disk performance, Centennial Discovery for asset management, and Symantec Anti-Virus Corporate Edition for centralized virus and spyware desktop security.
- Netscape IMAP server with LDAP Directory Services, Ironport C10 antivirus - antispam gateway. Backup mail exchangers using Obtuse Systems smtpd.
- 3Com NBX-100 Ethernet telephone system. Investigated VoIP and SIP interoperability with existing system to save on overseas and inter-site calls.
- Internal helpdesk used to provide email-based support through Numara Footprints integrated with Centennial Discovery. Worked with field sales and engineers often to provide immediate support during critical points in quarter. After-hours support via pager and phone.
- Corporate software developer environment established using GNU compilers.
- DNS/NIS/AD infrastructure standards defined for use between sites. Internal and external DNS services, and corporate domain name registration also under my responsibility.
